Recently, Zhejiang TUNA Environmental Science & Technology Co., Ltd., as the designated domestic testing agency for SCR catalysts in collaboration with China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) 711 Research Institute and Korea NANO, successfully completed comprehensive testing and performance certification of SCR catalysts for an overseas large container vessel. The testing strictly adhered to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Tier III emission standards and was conducted under the full supervision of the Korean Register of Shipping (KR) and representatives from the overseas shipowner. This milestone not only reflects the growing international recognition of China’s marine environmental technologies but also highlights TUNA’s technical expertise and service capabilities in SCR catalyst testing.
Leveraging its advanced SCR catalyst testing equipment, CNAS-accredited laboratory, and extensive industry experience, TUNA worked closely with CSSC 711 and Korea NANO to conduct scaled performance validation tests for the ship’s SCR system catalysts. By simulating real-world diesel engine emission parameters, the team completed critical assessments, including NOx conversion efficiency and catalyst activity, in strict compliance with ISO 29734:2016 and IMO MARPOL Annex VI requirements, ensuring accurate and reliable data.
The entire testing process was independently verified by KR surveyors and the shipowner’s representatives. The final report confirmed that the catalysts fully met IMO Tier III emission limits. A KR surveyor remarked: "The testing protocol by CSSC 711, Korea NANO, and TUNA is scientifically rigorous with high data transparency, demonstrating China’s professionalism in marine emission reduction technologies."
The success of this overseas project not only validates TUNAl’s technical prowess but also bolsters the global outreach of China’s marine environmental solutions. Moving forward, TUNA will deepen collaboration with CSSC 711 and Korea NANO to provide more efficient and reliable emission reduction solutions for global shipowners. It aims to standardize and promote China’s marine environmental technologies worldwide, offering integrated "testing-maintenance-regeneration" services in regions like Southeast Asia and Europe, helping shipowners reduce compliance costs and achieve green transformation.
